I’ve done this many times, and now have done it again, using all three of the specified MIME types.  It does not work.  The file comes down with Type of BINA and creator blank.

I had the same problem and had to do this to fix it.

I have the same problem with Quicken WebConnect.  All of my files come down with the wrong type and creator, regardless of what my fiel helper preferences say, and so they just sit there on the desktop.  I have to change the type and creator code on the file and then use them in Quicken.
