Paul: This is actually not the case. Note, an Advanced Rebuild is only occasionally necessary. But, regardless of which rebuild I do, the database stays uncorrupted for a while, days (when I used Live-Sync) to a week or more (using a normal scheduled sync). The problem is not due to a corrupted message. Also, I use other IMAP clients (Outlook, Eudora and Pine), on other platforms - that's why I use IMAP - and none of them suffer this problem.
At Microsoft's suggestion, I created a new identity and did not import anything directly (I did save my contacts to a text file and then import). After doing that, the problem happened much less frequently, but did not completely go away. However, this is not a completely unbiased test. I have also ceased to view other mailboxes in Erage (I do transfer from my inbox to the other mailbox in Erage), choosing instead to just use Pine in a terminal window when I want to reference a message saved in another folder. By not caching other folders I have managed to keep the database size small - it is currently ~20MB. Previously it had been up around 1G. It is my observation that the frequency of DB corruption is linked to DB size.
