I did not see the second question get answered, so here is mine: The fonts used to display a message are set on the mail preferences for Entourage, and usually default to a reasonable font for the language. In the case of Japanese, you need a font that can display $BF|K\8l(J (Japanese language) characters. If Entourage did not switch, then these characters would be displayed as garbage characters. By the way, my usage of Entourage with default setting to non-English is likely to become more common in the future as more and more business is transacted internationally and a greater percentage of the US population becomes multilingual.
