OK, this is better (I didn't realize Query Options worked this way; I've
used data merge before with Excel docs). But I still can't select the
flagged contacts (obviously, I could create another category instead of
using flags, but the flags worked well in Custom View). And, more important,
it doesn't seem to sort in any rational order (I can't figure out how it has
sorted; maybe by the order in which I entered the contacts?). Also, when I
tried to insert tabs (in the document made by merging), it acted very
strangely - kept removing the ruler so I couldnt add more tabs. I
eventually got the spacing I wanted, and I can obviously use a header to
have column headings, but that was when I noticed the weird sorting and
decided to call it quits for the night. Oh, and it also doesn't offer both
home and work phone numbers, which I have in my custom view - just "phone"
which I'm assuming is the phone number associated with the default address,
and "mobile phone."

It's certainly not under either custom views or print in the Entourage Help.
I didn't look at the Word help, although my recollection from my early
forays into data merge is that the Help for that was more confusing than
helpful. Of course, I did eventually figure out how to print mailing labels
from an Excel file of names and addresses, so I guess the Help eventually
got me sorted out.
