If you read mailing list digests you might want to check out Matthew
Hershberger's Digest Viewer application. This application parses a digest
to thread the messages by subject, and then displays the text in a multipane
browser interface that lets you quickly scan through the messages that
interest you. The application can be downloaded at this site:

There are digest bursting scripts which can run completely within Entourage,
but Digest Viewer provides a number of additional features that are
worthwhile.

Digest Viewer comes with a script (written by Allen Watson) which creates a
reply message in Entourage, including quoted text. I wrote another script
which works in the other direction, completing the integration of the two
applications. When you receive a digest from an email list, you can run
this script to:

(1) save the digest to a file (in a location of your choice),

(2) open the digest file in Digest Viewer, and

(3) mark the email as read and move it to your "Deleted Items" folder.

All this happens very fast, in a couple of seconds. If you don't want to
save the digest file after reading it, you can click a button in the Digest
Viewer browser, and the file is deleted.

I am going to send this script on to Matthew, but I would like to announce
it here, and solicit bug reports and suggestions for improvement. In
particular, I am curious to know if this script works with Entourage 2001
and the Mac OS 9 version of Digest Viewer. I have only tested it in Mac OS
X. The download is available here:
