The problem is the definition of resolution. Windows defaults to a resolution of 96 DPI, as opposed to 72 DPI. Now as far as the issue of 10 point on Windows looking like 12 point on the Mac. Look at the ratio of 96/72, and I think that the Windows guys got the ratio backwards, so that their "10 point text" is actually something like 13 points high. At least, that's what I saw when I was working on AppleWorks for Windows -- in order to not modify the the line breaks and page layout between AppleWorks on Mac and AppleWorks on Windows we had to apply a 72/96 ratio to the Mac font size to retain the line breaks and page layout. If you reverse the direction, you need to increase the font size by 133% in order to have the font sizes match, otherwise the font size on the Mac is 75% the size specified on Windows (ie. 10 point becomes 7.5 -- usually 7 -- point). -- Glenn L.
