In order to quit it you need to select 'turn off office notifications' in the Entourage menu. An alternative method is to run the one-line applescript: Tell app "microsoft database daemon" to quit In actual fact, I have installed SR1 without quitting the daemon, and it works OK. I believe the sr1 installer will quit the daemon if it's running anyway. So, why do they need to put up the warning? Who knows.
