Confirmed. I couldn't care less about it ultimately, but before I even read
the email (which had been filtered into my spam folder anyway for some
reason), I noticed the event in my calendar.  Had I just deleted the invite,
it would have remained in my calendar.  I declined it, and it was removed
from my calendar.

I can understand why some people might be upset or annoyed by this "feature"
