This is what I do when I am in the preview pane, reading the Ent-Talk list:
1. I select the message to which I want to reply,
2. Apple-R (reply to message and because you selected the message, only that
selected message it withhold, the rest of the list's messages disappear)
3. copy the "Re: subject-line" in the message
4. go to the Subject line in the reply message window and select the
Entourage-Talk Digest - mm/dd/02, I leave the Re:
5. paste

The result is this message.
