Definitely not most -- much more common procedures are SMTP authorization;
and only allowing you to send if you're connected to the Internet via the
same ISP as your SMPT host. I have POP accounts with Mindspring, Earthlink,
PacBell, and Mac.com, and all of them allow me to put a different email
address in the "E-mail address" field that serves as the return address.
