So, to be able to check e-mail, at acceptable performance I need to upgrade my hardware to 3/4 of a gig and a fast hard drive? I thought that the foundation of Unix would provide better utilization of resources -- oh, wait, Microsoft.... Never mind. Seriously, though, folks, I honestly believe that I should not be forced to upgrade my hardware just to regain acceptable speed - if that's the case, I'd rather just upgrade my software away from MS products. Now, I *know* that the MacBU is working feverishly to fix yet another Apple's undocumented snafus, and that your suggestion was a result of your own discoveries, but my comment was more of an 'all things considered' item. I had no performance issues under Entourage 2001 (or any 2001 component) and the current problem doesn't help adoption rates.... Any progress on tracking that bastage issue of molasses I/O performance down?
