To answer some of the points raised I am using the ML manager, and at present all the ones on a common subject are in a folder (mailbox) which is then split into two Ie BEAM Robotics is the main one, with the two mailing lists in separate folders in this. This is why I want to filter them - I'm reading two emails with the same info! I like the idea of stripping off the [group] header first. I think I'll try moving the messages to the main mailbox, removing the dupes and finally stripping the group header.
