I have an IMAP account like that, which works a lot better than my .mac
account, but I never needed to define a root folder. Entourage found it
easily enough by itself. I know that some IMAP accounts need the Root folder
defined - are you sure you do?

Click on the server's icon in the Folder Pane. Your whole folder structure
should appear in the main window. Does it? Are all your subfolders
Subscribed? If not, click on them an click Subscribe. that would fix it. If
they are already subscribed, first control-click on the server icon and
select "Get Info". Does the info contain "IDLE" anywhere? Now go to
Tools/Accounts/Mail/That Account/Options. Check the box "Send commands to
server simultaneously" and "Check for unread messages in subscribed
folders". IF your server supports IDLE, also check LiveSync, uncheck "Inbox
only" and check "Connect immediately on launch". If your server does NOT
support IDLE, uncheck "Live Sync". Try removing "Root folder" entry and see
what happens. [It's supposed to be a full path to your mail folder on the
server, if you need it.]

Now check it out. if you still have problems, try clicking on the INBOX,
then pressing option-command-L.

PLEASE always state which version of Entourage you are using - 2001 or X.
It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.
