We had extensive delays in email delivery last night due to an outage on the
trunk between our university in Pullman, WA and the network backbone
point-of-presence in Seattle.  Some emails were delayed as much as 12 hours.

Maybe something similar happened to Eric's mail.

Boy, debugging things in this networked environment sure is complicated ;-)
