Sort where exactly? If you're in the Address Book, and you have the NAME
column clicked, then it sorts by Last Name, even though it displays as
FirstName LastName. (If there's only a First Name, it appears alphabetically
mixed with the other contacts' Last Names.) Since you're not sorting on
Company, contacts with no name but only company are blank as far as name
sorting is concerned, so they'll be all at the top. Unfortunately, since
there is no sub-sorting procedure, all the "blank name" contacts - whether
they have company or not, or just email address, etc. - will not be sorted;
i.e. they will display in the order in which they were created, which won't
help you much.

There is certainly something to be said for Apple Address Book's method of
defaulting to company when there's no last or first name, and to email
address when there's nothing else. You only get <No Name> there when a
contact has none of those. Company, at least, has certainly been suggested
before for Entourage. I think sub-sorting might be good, where you could
choose which columns to sub-sort on. So all the companies and email
address-only would still be at the top, but in their own alphabetical order.
Perhaps company mixed in with names, but email addresses at he top would be
best: you can always sort by the Email address column if you want to look
via email address after all. Make your request via the Help menu too.

In the meantime, it's actually pretty easy to click on the Company column
and do a quick check there. If you don't have a company column, go to
View/Columns, or control-click (right-click) on any column header in the
Address Book to get a pop-down list, and select Company.
