I just dragged 354 of them into a folder on the desktop and didn't have a problem. It seemed like I was frozen for a minute or so, but the item count in the folder confirmed that the drag and drop did work fine and all contacts were transferred, and transferred equally as well when I dragged them all to Address Book.
