If you have the preview pane open, it could be that in trying to open the item once selected, things get hung up. Turn off the preview pane, try again. After deletion (assuming it works), turn preview back on as you desire. Good luck. Then have your colleage send you a fresh copy, checked out fully at his/her end first.
