Beth: Thanks for the tip on using an outgoing rule. It worked like a charm, as did the remove attachments command (now why didn't I think of that :-) It pruned my database from 550 to 158 mb. Quite a difference. And Lindsley... One doesn't even need to create a link for a record. The history of the message says that an attachment was removed and tells you what it was called. That way I know the attachment was sent and what it was. All thinks works fine in Entourage X I guess I never realized there were "outgoing rules" -- What other handy things might they be useful for?
