Hello,

I'm a newcomer to this group, and I discovered all of you yesterday while spending three hours searching for the answer to a question about Entourage for Mac OS X -- a question which continues to elude me.

About a month ago and completely without warning, I clicked on my Deleted Items folder to go in and look for an item. (I have Deleted Items set to never empty; I empty it manually about once per year. At each emptying, there are probably 25,000-30,000 messages in there.)

When I clicked on it the other day, I was met with the following error: "Could not open that feature. Mail error." I clicked on "okay," and immediately the same error returned. I clicked on "okay." What resulted was a seemingly endless loop of that same error, necessitating a force quit in order to restart the program.

I can get into all other folders, just not that one. The problem is I cannot export the folders and stuff into any other program, and there are at least three items in Deleted Items I really need. (We'll talk about my system of filing (or lack thereof) later.)

How can I be able to access that feature again?

I saw mention of a "Typical Rebuild," but I never was able to unearth instructions on how that is done, other than quitting all MS applications. Is there another way? Or is that even relevant here?

Thanks in advance for your help and wisdom.

Eric -- things are always so great, until they aren't
