All this depends on the IMAP serve. Many IMAP servers - all "Cyrus" IMAP
servers, for example, which are used by many institutions and ISPs, requires
ALL other folders to be subfolders on the INBOX. That's just how it is -
there's nothing you can do about that. That shouldn't stop you using rules
to get mail put into other folders, with Options of Account page to
"Download complete messages" and "Check for new messages in subscribed
folders". But you do need some special rules above all the other rules:

1. If <Folder> is not <Inbox (IMAP)>
    Change status to <not junk>

2. Unless <folder> is <Inbox (IMAP)>
    [Remove all actions]
Do not apply other rules to messages that meet these criteria

This applies also to the other sort of IMAP accounts where you can have
parallel folders to INBOX. It's just something that gets it working smoothly
with rules. IMAP rules will run on every folder, sending things round and
round, if you don't have Rule 2 above.

PLEASE always state which version of Entourage you are using - 2001 or X.
It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.
