Symantec knows about it - they knew about it before almost everyone else
did.  You are not "getting" the virus because it is not getting installed on
your machine.  

If you had a PC, then when you viewed the email, the virus would (try) to
install itself.  But you have a Mac, so just delete the messages - the will
eventually stop as people in the PC world eventually update their virus
software.
