I wonder how much of the problem is SpamSieve, and how much is Applescript. I have about 1,300 good messages and 3,100 spam messages (71%), and about 144,000 total words. SpamSieve is doing a very good job for me. I wonder if it would help to prune the corpus? It seems this would speed up SpamSieve, and reduce the amount of time that other activities pause. I may give that a try this weekend, after first saving the corpus in case I decide to undo the change.
