I have no idea what was going on, it was a new Imac, the software was just bought as well. I thought it had something to do with the pre-installed demo on the imac, I deleted all traces of Office and it went ok. I did first try to use the uninstaller in the Value Pack folder, which did not work. The client is insistent it is another issue, which I would like to confirm. She has a 3 pack for Office, one of the serial numbers was used and installed on a powerbook, for about 3 hours before the powerbook was returned to Apple for a bad keyboard. Since the above trouble happened when I told her it was fine to use the serial that was used in the install of a returned machine, she was pretty sure it was cause the serial number was "dead". I don't know that there is a database somewhere that the serial numbers need to talk to, this would imply internet connections were needed to get Office installed.
