16999 means an unexpected server error; I suspect what you are seeing is a
variant of that, despite the minus sign. In other words, something didn't go
right on the server. The fact that you retry and download correctly
indicates that all is now well. It's a transient error of some kind. I doubt
there is anything wrong with Entourage, and doubt there is anything you can
do to eliminate this problem. Perhaps 2004 is a bit more sensitive to the
error condition than X was, or the timing has somehow changed. Try reporting
it to your Earthlink support people and see what they say. Or, run a trace
with TCPflow (if you know how), and post that here; maybe someone who knows
the guts of TCP can figure out exactly what's happening.

But, frankly, if it were me, since retrying works, I would just live with
it. Too much bother to try to track it down.
