> Re: Entourage 2004 causing problems with Adobe CS apps?

Just wanted to share our experience with this problem. We've seen this
happen on several computers throughout the company. Specifically, if
Entourage 2004 is running, various modifier keys in Illustrator CS cease to
function. Quitting Entourage clears the problem; relaunching it brings the
problem back.

But it gets weirder: We've demonstrated that the problem only occurs if you
enter your e-mail password into Entourage manually (as opposed to letting
the Keychain enter it for you). I tested this repeatedly, always with the
same result: if I launch Entourage with "remember my password in the
Keychain" set, the Illustrator CS modifier keys are fine. If, instead, I
launch Entourage and enter my e-mail password myself, the modifier keys in
Illustrator no longer work. It's almost as if the Entourage login window is
what triggers the problem. As long as that login dialog isn't displayed, we
don't see the bug. (Supporting evidence: if I set Entourage to ask for my
password on launch, but then hit Cancel instead of entering a password, the
modifier keys will not work in Illustrator CS. Just the act of allowing
Entourage to display it's login dialog seems to be enough.)

A side note, likely related: I frequently use Apple's "Remote Desktop" to
control and administrate certain computers on our network. I've noticed
that, if Entourage 2004 is running, NONE of my keyboard modifier keys work
while I'm remotely controlling a computer. I can't even type a capital
letter, since the shift key doesn't work. Quitting Entourage clears the
problem.

Finally, we've also seen this problem occur in FileMaker Pro. We have a
particular database which includes a "hidden" mode - click on a particular
button while holding down SHIFT-CTRL-OPT and you are taken to a special
layout. This works if Entourage is not running, doesn't work if it is.

Anyone got any quick fixes for this bug? It seems to be very widespread,
affecting a wide variety of apps.
