An attempt to archive a small project with two emails and four files led to
reformatting my disk, reinstalling Mac OS X, and all applications. I say
'led' because I don't know it was the cause. But what I've collected and am
reporting here seems to link the events.

Including the associated files in the archiving process, and possibly the
target location, is significant in this failure; I have been able to archive
projects that contain only email messages (no associated files) without
problems.

Given the potential (or in my case, actual) consequences, I've tried to
provide as much documentation as possible. I have written a document of
about 1200 words describing everything I captured, and would like to get it
to the Mac developer at Microsoft. It includes:

    - Project contents and operating environment
    - Archive process and events, including the options used
    - File system diagnostics
      - Disk Warrior
      - Disk Utility
      - TechTool Pro
    - Remedy
    - Conclusion, speculations, and a request

Is anyone interested in helping with this? I'm happy to send or post the
full report.

The application and processing environment included:

    * Office 2004 was installed, with Entourage 2004 running. I don't
      recall if any other Office applications were running.
    * Mac OS X 10.3.4 was installed
    * The machine is a Dual 1.8 GHz G5 with 1.5GB of memory
