Welcome to the future :-)

Yes, the grouping system is quite different under office 2004 than it was in
office X. It takes some getting used to, and i still miss the old threading
metaphor.

The big diffference is that the new metaphor is that it is based around the
idea of grouping emails, rather than simply threading. Each group gets a large
heading panel present for even one mail in the group. A closed panel can be
acted on (like delete it to delete the mail in that group), but you can't view
mails in a closed group.

Meaning the selection is in the wrong place for you? Sometimes you will lose
selection focus when deleting a whole group. i think that's a bug. There is
also the issue of the selection focus going the "wrong way" for your
preference. Reversing the sort order can sometimes help with that, but not
really.

You heard wrong. It isn't (unless there is some cunning interface i have
missed)

Silly i know. i would expect that to change sometime. Hopefully it won't be
large and read either. I would not necessarily expect and editable toolbar,
but who knows.

have to train new reflexes. Might try Mail.app in Tiger - supposed to be nice
(though i haven't used it).
