Title: Re: Exporting from Entourage to Address Book

Nevertheless, trying to remember back (as it has been awhile), I think I must have read as far as your phrase, “Go to Kagi and get the $8 Upgrade to Panther” and no further, deciding that I didn’t want to pay for an upgrade to something I had only used a few times and as a result, lost some address data. (Not reading the complete message is one of of my bad habits.) I was willing to try a newer version, hence my inquiry about an upgrade for Tiger, but not spend the $8 to test the improvements. (Besides, I am increasingly nervous about supplying credit information to strangers in today’s atmosphere of identity-theft. After thwarting one attempt, I have ceased buying online with credit accounts. Burn me once, shame on him. Burn me twice, shame on me.)

Actually, the Panther-Tiger version allows full-featured use free for 14 days. (I discovered with the Jaguar version that hardly anyone chose the $6 "Limited" version that did the same thing, and that almost everyone who did buy it then later upgraded to the full version. So I decided when I made the Panther version just to give it away free for 14 days use. That means that if you're just interested in a one-time transfer from one app to the other, you can do it for free. The iCal script is the same. You can also try out regular synching and choose whether or not to buy the unlimited version after 2 weeks use, if you wish.) Since your message to me in March contained no indication that you were not a happy customer who had already paid for the Jaguar version, there was no particular reason for me to have said so, although it is clearly on the Macscripter.net, versiontracker. and Kagi websites, and in the (Panther-Tiger) ReadMe. You could still try out the Panther-Tiger version if and when you want to, free. I still have your Jaguar activation code, and can send it to you if you ever decide you'd like to upgrade to the paid Panther-Tiger version after the 14 days.

Kagi generally forwards on to me any correspondence about my scripts. It's more than likely that they did so at the time, and something got misplaced. It's a lot more difficult for me to search for such a message now (two years later) than a message that came to me directly from the sender, though, so I'll just take your word for it. I'm sorry it did not get resolved at the time. I can assure you that any loss of data would have been because you had neglected to set your FirstName LastName preferences correctly, and would have been retrievable if acted upon immediately. If Apple would only make that preference scriptable, the script could take care of it but since they don't, you have to. Every once in a while, someone forgets to do so.
