I am not sure what the problem is. If you type more details then the list changes to be based on what you have typed. Is she wanting to type just one
letter and then scroll through the list? Just type a bit more.

If she wants a longer list she can click on the Address Book button next to
the Check Names button when addressing a message. She can then see all
address book entries for any address book she has.

It was an unexpected change that was undesirable.

When you know part of a name, but not all of it, seeing the larger list is helpful.

I can see where with all the address book options available, that list could become unreasonably long.

It would be nice if it were adjustable though... 8 just doesn't seem like a whole lot of choices.
