I can imagine a scenario in which this new limitation would be really
unfortunate, but let me ask for clarification:

Is the limit of 8 only for items from the address book, and not also for the
recently-used address list?

Here's why I ask. Sometimes I want to send an email to somebody with whom
I've been corresponding recently (say, a week ago), but I can only remember
the first letter of their name or email address. Yes, this happens to me!
It's very helpful to hit the one letter and look down the list.

I guess the old limit was about 20 items? Why would this be changed? It's
a shame.

Here's what I would suggest if it's felt that the list needs to be shorter.
Take a design cue from Spotlight and make the last item in the list a "show
all" item that expands the list to full size.
