Repeated hangs affect operations in Word as well as Entourage. Since updating to service pack 2, I've found that Word often stalls when scrolling documents, hogging 100% CPU during this time. In Entourage, the hangs are accompanied by frenzied disc activity that I've assumed is due to some cache file movement as the activity is always read-only. Word hangs for about 10 s at a time. It's so annoying that I currently only use it to finish off documents and have reverted to Appleworks for most DTP work instead.
I have stopped Spotlight from trying to catalogue the MS user folder, but this has made no difference whatsoever to the hanging issues with either application.
