For me, the issue is not common (maybe 2 or 3 times a week). OK, thanks all who responded -- I think that rules out Spamsieve as the culprit. I also only experience the freezing problem occasionally -- during the past several days not at all, but otherwise also about 2-3 times per week. I also can't recall if it started after the last Office upgrade or after I started using a MacBook Pro, but assuming that some of those with the same problem do not yet have Intel Macs, I'm guessing started after the last upgrade. Other than eliminating Spamsieve and possibly Intel Macs as culprits, I don't have a clue as to what might be causing this, but when it happens it is definitely annoying....
