Historically, the MacBU have never held open betas like the windows side do. All their betas have been 'invite only', and they have kept the secrets of the invite process very close to their chests! However, they have publicly stated that there will be public beta versions of the docx etc file translators available later this year, so maybe this signals a new direction.
