I'm attempting to learn about digitally signed and encrypted email. My own
goal is to create a messaging system that will allow my business (a medical
practice) to send and receive "protected health information" by email to
colleagues involved in patient care and remain in compliance with the HIPAA
statute.

I've read what's in the Entourage help file, what's on the entourage.mvps
site, but still have concerns regarding a means to implement this so it
would work. I can see that I have the option of signing and/or encrypting
individual messages, but it seems likely that some people would forget to
set this option in their client for individual messages.

Can anyone point me to a discussion of an implementation that works across
platforms, outside of closed intranets, and is compatible with multiple
clients, etc.? I need both very basic information (what it is), how-to
information (how to set it up), and real-world stories of successes and
failures.

Thanks so much

Jim Robertson
