Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, neither of them made a
difference. I had high hopes when I realized that I had the links
option checked, but that had no affect. My benchmark is the length
of time it takes to have the address area appear when I forward a
message and that is still taking a long time.

Once it opens, click on the name column to re-sort your contacts. That
should cause Entourage to re-sort the list and speed things up.
Seems that some of the linking features can cause slow downs too.
Check your
preferences for the Address Book for automatically linking.
