Are you using POP or IMAP? Messages on the server can be downloaded a second (or third or fourth) time, but that happens to me in Mail and Thunderbird, too (so it's not unique to Entourage). I don't have any duplicated contacts, so I don't know what happened there. Any chance you are synchronizing with another device, that you're getting duplicates? Are they exact duplicates or are they slightly different?
