I have just joined your list, so please forgive me if you have already
resolved this issue for someone else:

I am running Microsoft Entourage 11.3.3 on a G4/1.2 GHz desktop Mac with
1.25 GB of RAM, running OS 10.4.10. However, the problem started in 10.4.9,
and has just carried over since the update...

I tend to store way too many messages in my e-mail folders. Last week, I did
some major housecleaning, moving things to sub-folders and deleting about
2,000 messages and many more attachments, from Entourage. I then verified
and compacted/backed up the database.

Ever since then, I am getting (several times a day) messages that say, "your
database is damaged. Do you want to quit all Office programs, so the
database utility can be run?" If I click "yes," indeed all Office programs
quit, and the database utility opens.

I have (in order of occurrence, and despite all this, continuing to get the
"damaged" message regularly):
1.Verified, compacted and backed up the database.
2.Rebuilt the database twice.
3.Repaired permissions with Disk Utility.
4.Run Disk Warrior.
5.Exported copies of my Entourage address book to tab-delimited file and
entire identity folder to a .rge file, just in case.
6.Repaired permissions with Disk Utility.
7.Run the recent Security Update and 10.4.10 system updater (without
problems).
8.Verified the database (which says it's running correctly).
9.Compacted the database.
10.Repaired permissions with Disk Utility again (there was nothing to
repair).
11.Verified the database (which says it's running correctly).
...and I'm still getting the "database is damaged" message.

What else can I do, to get rid of this message? I want to do more
housecleaning, and get rid of more superfluous/old messages, but I am
concerned about disturbing things, since E-rage seems to be working fine, at
the moment, despite the dire messages.

Carol
