You could also do a custom view for the older mail. Then drag the icon for
the custom view to the desktop as an MBOX file.

I've been doing some testing for using spotlight to search mail that has
been archived. It doesn't seem that spotlight can look into MBOX files or
.rge files. If you want the archived mail to be searchable, you'll need to
drag out the messages individually as .eml files.

Currently in 2004, Entourage creates a special folder for Spotlight to
archive. This ~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft/Entourage/ is the location
of your data used by Sync Services.
