In the local Sent Items folder or AOL's? The former will be maintained indefinitely unless she has a schedule to remove them. The latter are supposed to be maintained by AOL for a month or two, but you never know. If the latter, go to Tools > Accounts > (the AOL account) > Advanced > uncheck all "Special Folders" boxes.
