I have multiple folders setup in Entourage to store messages sent to me for each of our customers. I¹m at the point where I need to clean out my mail some as it is taking up too much space on our mail server. I¹ve saved the messages with attachments to my hard drive. Now I want to retain the original messages, but strip out the attachments in Entourage. I open the original message in Entourage The remove button next to the list of attachments is grayed out, but I can go under the Message menu and select Remove all attachments. I do this and the physical size of the individual message is significantly smaller. However, when I click on my Inbox icon and do a get info and look at the storage usage the folders that these messages are in do not change size. They still take up the larger amount of space.
I just updated to Office 11.3.9 and this has made no difference. My mail is stored on an Exchange server and I¹ve waited up to 1/2 hour to allow the files to synch to the server, but still no change is made in the folder size, only the individual messages change size. Another, possibly unrelated issue, is that some messages will show up with the Edited message status icon after I remove the attachments, but others do not.
