On top of the other things I tried - now I tried: The post update 12.1.0
1 safe mode boot Word 1st time open = 1:10 then 40sec additional openings Entourage = 1st open 15 sec then 9 sec Regular Boot (after) BTW: I even deleted all my start up login items Word 1st time open = 1:35 then 2:10sec!!! even worse Entourage = 1st open = 50 sec then 40 sec additional openings Not too happy... I still didn't run a font program... But I have no user fonts and the safe boot is quick... Hmmm Could the fact that I won't update to java 6 (won't work with other apps) play a part ?
