I had tried this - using "recent mode"  - a year ago and I remember having
hundreds of previously downloaded messages raining on me. Did you go thru
that?  I didn't really have an understanding of it.  Thanks.  So this works
for you.

So even in recent mode you can't BCC yourself.  But this is all a nuisance
and I wonder why gmail seems to purposely cause this trouble.
