My elderly neighbour has been using an old black Performa running 8.6 since
I bought it for her 9/1 years ago! But this week she complained that it no
longer would connect with CompuServe! As it turned out I think it was her
credit card that had expired that caused the no connection!! Bt after having
spent an hour with no luck I decided it was perhaps time for it to be
pensioned off!!

So I have given her an Emac that has sat at work for 18 months not having
done anything! I set it all up for her, I cant take it past 10.3.9 as the CD
drive does not work!, but have run all the other updates and she was quite
overwhelmed when I took it round for her. She had been using Outlook express
Mac version and that copied across the identity to Entourage with ease
(using Office 2004).

Ok so to my questions as I am now getting rusty with these old settings!!

It dials, does the hand shake but fails on authentication??

On the old system it used a 'script' to connect the emails - the tech guy I
spoke to talked about using a script, but of course he had no Mac knowledge.
On the PPP options I can see 'script' but its greyed out and cant seem to
make it available?

I put the email settings into my entourage (10.5.5 and LAN network and it
doesn't seem to want to connect either - the CompuServe tech guy gave me a
second level password for the email.

Any thoughts, comments would be much appreciated!

Thanks
Stephen
