ENTS-- I think we're all in agreement that a measuring blitz at Congaree in early 2009 will be an awesome opportunity...? Let's hash out the dates!? Currently, I can work with any dates from the third week of February to the end of March.? The one weekend date I've heard mentioned so far (February 21-23) is good with my schedule (so far--the quicker we can pencil this in, the easier it will be).? I'm planning on working this trip around a business trip to dig up some historical ecology information from the Forest History Society's archives in Durham, NC, which will take some effort to plan, so the sooner we can lock things down, the better for me.
Also, once we pick a date, I will publish the information in the Bulletin of the ENTS.? We will have a new issue appearing soon, so it would be nice to put the preliminary schedule in it... One of our members is an NPS employee at CSWP. He has been exceedingly helpful in setting us up in the past with boats, logistics, etc. ? Will F. Bob- Somebody with NPS connections should try contacting Congaree folks and see if there isn't a "partnering" opportunity...many times NPS program managers are faced with undo-able tasks, with no money and no volunteers...perhaps the changing of the guard this January, there might be opportunities for ENTS volunteers, if not by February, then in other locations elsewhere. -DonRB From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [email protected] Subject: [ENTS] Re: Congaree 2009 Date: Sun, 9 Nov 2008 18:39:58 +0000 Sooooopaa! ? ???? BVP, Sillet, Blozan, the tall trees of Congaree will be getting the treat of their growing lives. I hope the NPS?recognizes the incredible team that is being assembled to add invaluable scientific tree measurement data to the hopper. But regardless, the data will be available through ENTS to interested researchers. ?
