Good morning,

Is there an average distance between mature trees in an forest? I know
it depends on the kind of forest and what kind of disturbance there
has been, so general measurements from a variety of different forest
types and locations would be great. Maybe there is a web site?

I want to compare the density of other forests with the 50 acre NYBG
forest (an oak, hickory, beech, maple, ash, etc. forest with lots of
invaders in the process of being removed - amur cork, amur
honeysuckle, ailanthus altissima, and aralia spinosa. Also many wide
trails and the Bronx River running through with a flood plain on the
west side and steepish slope on the east side. Many outcrops of schist
and gneiss.)

Thanks!
Jenny
