There is a suspicion that much of the Aralia spinosa in the NY metro region
may actually be Aralia elata, which has naturalized.  I guess they are quite
difficult to tell apart. We have a small infestation here in our local park
in Westchester County and I would be interested in knowing what control
measures you are using.
