Your point is soooo pertinent. Well-intentioned programs often don't 
realistically address the nature of the private sector. I think you, Joe, Mike, 
and other private-sector foresters live with that awareness. Academics and 
government officials often look past the on-the-ground realities as though they 
weren't there.

I think the brochure makes the process look a lot easier than it really is. 
There were some pretty photos. 

With the average tenancy period for forested property ownership at around 7 
years it means that a typical patch of woods could go through fifteen different 
owners in a hundred years....and all it would take is one of those 15 owners to 
be short sighted, greedy or finacially stressed to undo every previous tenants 
efforts.
