All books by Edward Abbey are fantastic! 

How about "Passing Strange" by Joseph Citro - True Tales of New England
Hauntings and Horrors. Very good short stories here - are they fact or
fiction? 

This is nonfiction but I liked the writings of the late Supreme Court
Justice William O Douglas - "North to Katahdin" was a good one as I
recall.
