Yeah, I did a lot of hiking along the Ellicott's Rock WIlderness. Dead
hemlocks everywhere. It's a hemlock wasteland.

I did briefly stop in Neel's Gap and talked to the folk there. The
hemlocks around the gap were in good shape, but when I asked what the
people at the Wasaliyi Inn were going to do about it, their response
was:

"Those beetles are just too expensive!"

I tried to tell them about chemical treatments and Kioritz soil
injectors, but I'm not sure if it did any good.

There are some great stands of hemlocks around Rich Mountain
Wilderness Tray Mountain Wilderness and in Cohutta Wilderness (all
near where I went to high school). Not sure what the situation is in
those places.
