Jenny,

To write the prounciation of my name was a more difficult task than I
thought. An American collague of me said my first name could be
written "Kó-oo-ta". He was not able to write the pronounciation of my
last name at all.

I asked also an England-born friend of me, who has lived long time in
Finland and speaks almost perfect Finnish. He said the pronounciation
is very easy to write with the International Phonetic Alphabet:
k/ɔ/u/t/a r/æ/s/æ/n/e/n.
That's what I meant when I wrote that in Finnish all the letters are
spoken so as they are. However, he said if one cannot read phonetic
alphabets, the pronounciation is impossible to write fully correctly,
but he gave the following advices:

FIRST NAME (Kouta):

'kou' is almost like an exclamation "Ho!" or "No!" or "Oh!" but 'k'
instead of 'h', 'n' etc.
'ta' is as you would say it.

LAST NAME (Räsänen):

'räs' is like "has" but 'r' instead of 'h'.
'än' is almost like the article "an".
'en' is as you would say it.

It would be highly interesting to hear, how you would pronounce my
name with these advices! ;)
